The animal must be slaughtered using a sharp knife to reduce suffering. The sacrifier has to say "Bismillah, Allahu Akbar" so that the sacrifice can be done according to Islamic doctrine.

Heavy animals like cows and camels can be divided among a maximum of seven people, as long as each member of the group intends to make Qurbani.
